He graduated from the University of Belgrade Faculty of Medicine, where he completed specialist training in general surgery and subspecialist training in cardiac surgery. He has developed his professional career at the Dedinje Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases in Belgrade and worked for six years as a clinical assistant at the University of Belgrade Faculty of Medicine.
He has participated in complex open-heart operations and minimally invasive cardiac procedures and was part of the team that performed the first minimally invasive cardiac-surgery procedure at the University Clinical Centre of Republika Srpska. He has pursued further training at international centres and has authored or co-authored cardiac-surgery papers.
