His work focuses on assessment of tooth position, the relationship between the upper and lower jaw, jaw development and bite function. A consultation may be appropriate for misaligned teeth, jaw discrepancy, difficulty with chewing or speech, or before orthodontic, prosthetic or other dental treatment is planned.

In children and adolescents the assessment considers jaw growth and the need for monitoring, while in adults it may address functional problems and a broader rehabilitation plan. After examination and review of existing imaging, the doctor may recommend further diagnostics, an orthodontic plan or coordinated care with a dentist or oral surgeon.
